Future Generations
Are we afraid of what will hapen when we get old and have to pass the teaching and leading of Jesus to the children growing up today? If so why? Are we afraid they won't care as much or do something to hurt the name of Jesus? We need to stop for a moment as adults of this generation and don't put such a heavy burden on the generations coming up. Do you want to know the hard truth? Good cuz I'm gonna tell ya. The generations growing up and to come are only as good and as strong as the adult generations leading and teaching them. If our kids and future generations fail to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we need to look at ourselves first and ask what we did wrong.
So what can we do to get our kids and future generations ready to lead and teach and be the hands and feet of Jesus? Here are a few easy tips to get started.
#1 Put Jesus ahead of yourself.
How do you do that you ask? Get in your word, pray, and think on things Jesus would do and not what you would do.
#2 Get your priorities straight.
1-God,2-Spouse,3-Kids,4-Church,5-everything else.
When this is out of order, everything goes wrong. How do you do this?
Follow #1 for putting God first, for Spouse, make time for them. One of the #1 rules of raising children is check on the oldest first when you have a baby because the baby won't remember. It is the same way with your spouse because you will raise your kids to a point and then they will leave, your spouse will still be there. Plus you need to be on the same page when it comes to discipline, eating habits, and all that stuff.
Next with your kids to put them third, check and see if you would put anything a head of your kids. Example: Timmy says "I want to play cars" you say "in a minute" then finish watching a show and cleaning the whole house before you get to Timmy. By that time he has played on his own, got mad at you, and forgotten that he even asked you. So if you do this STOP and put your kids over your crap. I call earthly stuff TV, cleaning, etc., crap when it comes to my kids.
Make sure to spend at least 15 to 20 minutes a day with your kids engaged in them not just being in the same room as they are.
#3 Be forgiving towards yourself and others.
Give your bitterness to God and be done with it. How you say? If someone has wronged you or you have wronged yourself or someone else, apologize. Some instances you can't apologize to the person in person so you simply forgive them in your mind. Example: Margive hurt Stews feelings and now Margie has moved to another state. Stew sits down and prays and say "Lord I forgive Margie for hurting my feeligns" there in one instance you have forgiven her and given it to God. When it comes into your mind again and you feel that pain again you repeat the prayer.
#4 Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus.
Read His word and pray daily. Be a praying and bible reading family. Take what you learn and tell and share with others.
There I think this is a good start to leading and teaching our children and future generations.
