Try Again
I was talking to a lady today about church and she said she didn't go to church. I then started talking to her about my church and how awesome it is and that she could come visit us anytime. She then told me that she had had a bad run in with church so she would rather not go. She then said "I am not a religious person" I said "good because I'm not either, I just love Jesus." She kind of looked at me weird but oh well. I then told her that she could even look us up on line and watch us that way if she wanted to since she said she would rather pray behind closed doors, she looked at me even weirder and said "wow the church has made it to the internet, there just everywhere."
After talking to her I started thinking about somethings, 1st of all why would you decide not to go to church based on one or two bad experiences. When you think about it, it really doesn't make since. Let me relate this to a bank. If you have one or two bad experiences with a bank are you going to just be done with banks all together more then likely not, you will just go find another bank to put your money in. So why would you not do the same thing with church unless you really just don't want to go to church. The way I see this is you would rather have your money in a safe place then to have your soul in a safe place which is with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Secondly what makes a bad experience with a church? The number one reason I hear why people don't go to church is because the pastor talks about tithing and money too much. So why is it so bad if the pastor talks about money? Yes if the pastor is always talking about tithing and giving and you see him and his family driving around in expensive rides and the church is always having an annual event to give more to the pastor and his family then yes I think then talking about tithing and giving would get on my nerves, it would outright make me mad because they are making a mockery of God and setting a bad example of who God is, but for those pastors and churches who clearly just love Jesus and are always helping others, talking about tithing and giving are not a bad thing.
For those of you who have never tried giving or tithing you are missing out. Giving and tithing does help the church so it can continue running but it also shows that you love God and not your money. I have been tithing for about 20 years now, it in itself is one of the most rewarding things I have ever chosen to do. It is one thing that you give and some comes back. It may not always be in the form of money, it may be a meal, someone just decides to fill your car up for no reason, etc. Also by you tithing it shows that you are putting God first and when you do that great things are bound to happen.
My advice is I would not give up on church, when you do this you really give up on yourself and God and open a wide door for Satan to have a field day in your and your families life. If you have a bad experience with a church, try another church until you find one that fits you best. For those of you who have a great church, start telling people about it. Let people know that their are still good churches out there who just love Jesus and want to make Him known.
