The Sweet Little Rose

Every woman starts out as a rose in life. As we grow, learn, and change, our perception on life changes. We learn the cold hard truth that life is not always rainbows, butterflies, and buttercups. Sometimes we learn this through lost friendships, loss of a loved one, abuse of any kind, and the list goes on and on until one day that sweet little rose is wilted, crushed, and as good as dead. At this point in life we have a choice: do we stay where we are; bitter, angry, heartbroken, never to let anyone in or do we see this as a chance to start again. A chance to see that sweet little rose begin to lift her droopy head and once again be able to see the sweet rays of the glorious Son.

Too often in life we choose to stay broken, bitter, and angry. Angry at ourselves. Angry at the world. But every once in a while you will see that one rose that was lying on the ground begin to rise back up. Only this time she is different. That sweet little rose is still sweet, but something happened to her. She found freedom. She found forgiveness. She found love. She sought out wisdom and vowed to never stop growing, learning, and loving. This sweet little rose is no longer just sweet, but she is full of wisdom. She is full of compassion. She is full of love. She is a rose built from the ground up. She is a rose built from the tragedies and hardships in her life. She is a rose that learned that her hardships were not just scars but they are reminders that she survived. This sweet rose is now no longer little but now towers over all the others not boastfully but to protect, to love, and to remind all those other sweet little roses that until your last breath, you have a chance to get up, to be free, to go after what you want, and to live.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling

people about me everywhere” Acts 1:8

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God

is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking,

and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 NLT

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For

you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your

endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:10-18
