Tidbits of Leadership
Hearing from God:
When you hear from God, how do you hear from Him? Through the wind, audibly in a still small voice, through a loud demanding voice, the “I love you” from your child, the hug from your husband. Always remember that God will never go against Himself, God will never throw you into a state of confusion, God will never call you to put the church over your family. When you think you hear from God always remember to back it up with scripture. If it goes against scripture, it’s not God. Satan can be very crafty. If it’s a gray area & your just not quite sure ask Jesus for clarity & for Him to reveal it to you through scripture.
2 Corinthians 11:5-6a
I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super apostles” I may indeed be untrained as a speaker, but I do have knowledge.
Don’t let the fact that you consider yourself lower than a trained person of the bible, trained person in speaking, or trained person in anything keep you from doing what God is calling you to do. If you are not trained & equipped God will train & equip you along the way. Go for it & let God lead you in everything.
So how do you feel when you feel inferior & not capable to lead someone else, but Jesus says you are & gives you someone to lead, to train, & equip, what do you do? You can’t rely on yourself, but you can rely on the person(s) who trained you. Who is it? Mine is Jesus, Chuck, Stacey, & Scott. Tap into that, remember who your God is & get started.
What should take priority 1st in your life:
1. Jesus- hows your prayer & bible time
2. Spouse - How's your marriage, when you have spats, etc, how do you handle them? Who’s in the middle of your marriage? Who’s speaking into your marriage & who are you talking to about your marriage?Jesus should be in the middle. You & your spouse should be talking about your marriage. Only people who speak positively & will lead you back to Jesus get to speak into your marriage. You should never talk down about your spouse to anyone except God & your parent’s on both sides should not be involved in your marriage whatsoever.
3. Children - Are you praying with & over your children? Are your children some of the children that children’s workers see coming & gasp for air? If so what needs to change at home?
4. Ministry/Church - How's your ministry? Are you pouring in & equipping your team? Is ministry taking the place of your marriage, children, God, meaning you are so busy with ministry you don’t have time to focus on your children, your marriage or God. Are you saying yes to too many things? Being willing to serve in ministry is amazing but if you're too busy & have your hands in too many ministries at once you can’t do a good job in any of them & will eventually burn out & may very possibly say “NO” to the one thing you needed to say “YES” to. Is one of your only reasons for ministry to get a paycheck? Where is a place Jesus is calling you but you're not ready to be there yet? Do you know why your not ready?
What are you already very good at in ministry that you can build upon? Just because Jesus gives you a glimpse of where He wants you to be doesn't mean to give up everything & head there. Sometimes it takes years, takes heartaches, lessons, & growth before you are ready.
It has taken me almost 15 years to get where I am & I am still not where I want to be
It has taken Scott & Stacey almost 20 years to start to see their dream come to fruition of having multi-site
Ephesians 1:18-19a - I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, & His incomparably great power for us who believe.
Are you willing to give up where you want to be in ministry for your family?
Have you completely given your family to Jesus?
If yes to both, then this is where Jesus can truly work with you.
In order for us to completely surrender something to Christ we have to give it all to Him. He will give it back, it may not look the way you thought it would or even be in the same time frame but it will always be better.
