WHAT IS YOUR LEGACY?

All throughout history legacies have been left for the next generation and generations to come, whether they have been good or bad.

Let's take a look:

First off we see God as we first open the bible in Genesis where he left us the legacy of everything good and holy. Genesis 1

Next we see God when He left us the legacy of being created in His image. Genesis 1:27

Moving on we see where Adam and Eve left us the legacy of forever having to deal with sin thank you for that!!!! Genesis 3

Next we see a man named Noah who left us the legacy of that when God asks us to do something, He will always see us through to the end. We also see the legacy Noah left behind of knowing that we can stand tall against every and any person who may try to steer us away from God. Genesis 6-8

Next we see a man named David. This man started out as a little boy who completely trusted in God and was willing to die up against a giant just because He knew God was with Him and would fight His battle for Him. Then we see this same man go after a woman that wasn’t his for the taking. Killed her husband to try to cover up his sin and then after all this left a legacy that would ring out through history, save millions of people and restore them to their Heavenly Father when He wrote Psalms.

Going on through the bible next we see this little girl named Mary who was supposed to be getting married, but became pregnant. Her and Joseph alike both left us an incredible legacy all because they were willing to listen to God and do as He asked. Because of these two we now have a Heavenly Father who came to earth, went through everything we would ever have to endure, died on a cross simply because He loves us and wants to spend eternity with us, and then rose from the grave on the 3rd day to return to His Father so that starting at the point of our salvation we will forever spend eternity with Him.

Lastly we will take a look at a man named Saul, later to become Paul. This man started out his legacy as a horrible man forever to be known as a killer of Christians until one day God had a different plan for his life. God stopped him in the middle of the road, talked to Paul, blinded him, and then sent him on his way. Two major legacies that I want to point out about Paul that he left us with was this: #1 we have all done very bad things in our lives and have burned a lot of bridges with some people close to us and not so close to us. When Paul was saved God reinstated those bridges and allowed Paul to go back to those very people that he was killing and trying to kill, he was allowed to tell his story. The people listened and were forever changed. #2 Paul was not willing to let anyone else die and go to hell. He and so many others walked, ran, sailed, road all kinds of animals, went hungry, went to prison, and ultimately died so that the words of God and Jesus would be heard around the world. Because of this the Bible and all its history is still being told around the world saving millions of people. All because of this one legacy.

My question to you today is this: What legacy are you going to leave behind?

Looking back through all these people one thing that is never mentioned in any of these is how rich they were. A legacy built on money without God will always crumble to the ground at some point. It may not be with you, it may not be with your children, but at some point someone in your family will fall to the ground all because of what you started. Don’t let this legacy be your legacy.

A legacy that should be left behind for your children and their children and their children’s children is this:

A firm foundation in Christ. A loving family that spends time together, talks together, laughs together, does the work of the Lord together no matter how hard times are. No matter if their is money or not. A husband and wife that love each other at all costs. A mother and father that loves their children at all costs. A person or family that when you do something wrong, make amends quickly.

When a legacy like this is left, you have set your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and on and on and on up for amazing things. When a legacy like this is left there is no failure because of the firm foundation in Christ you left so many years earlier.
